It's about 4.1 miles by road, roughly 13 minutes in clear traffic. Our site is on the west side of Reading and Sonning is on the east, so the town lies between you and us. The route runs Thames Street, Playhatch Road and Henley Road into Reading, then Prospect Street, Church Street and Bridge Street to Caversham Road, crossing back over the Thames on Caversham Bridge before Richfield Avenue and Bridgewater Close. Sonning Bridge, at the start, has a 7.5-tonne weight limit and one-way traffic lights; an ordinary hire van is under the limit. That's an estimate from map routing rather than a timed drive, so allow a little longer at busy times.
Once you're there, you let yourself in by smart entry, any day from 6am to 10pm.

Sonning Bridge has a 7.5-tonne limit and one-way traffic lights, so allow time to cross and check the signs before you set off.

The floor changes the price at Reading. A 20 sq ft unit is £15 a week on the first floor and £19 on the ground floor, 35 sq ft is £27.50 or £30, and 75 sq ft is £45.50 or £50.50. Every size is on our Reading storage prices page, and storage is billed every four weeks rather than by calendar month.
Why Sonning people store with us
Sonning is the Thames-side Berkshire village beside Sonning Bridge, not Sonning Common, which is a separate village a few miles north, across the Thames in Oxfordshire. It has no Wigwam site, so Reading is the nearest.

Great company. I wasn't sure what size unit I needed and they were so helpful with plenty of advice even offering to let me see the units before I decided. When I booked my unit it was so quick and easy I just needed some ID docs and signed the contract then straight away I had my unit. They use an app to access the storage facility and it was so easy to use. Also they were the best value. They even phoned me to check everything was okay and that I didn't have any problems with the app or access. I would definitely recommend Wigwam for storage with lovely friendly staff and easy to set up and access.

They're in a very convenient location, with lots of parking for cars and also close to the 17 bus. The facilities are always clean and well-lit, and I cannot say enough about the fantastic staff. Peri and Emma are always cheery, helpful, and friendly. Reasonable prices, as well. It's great!

After being with Pink Hippo Reading for quite a while now, I cannot express how happy I am with their service. The lockers are well-priced and the facility is clean, however, the staff really make the company what it is. They have been understanding, professional and incredibly helpful with the organisation of my unit from overseas. I couldn´t have asked for more and I would recommend them a thousand times over.

Sonning storage: useful things to know
Is there a Wigwam store in Sonning?
No. We serve Sonning from Wigwam Reading on Bridgewater Close, about 4.1 miles away.
How long does the drive take?
Around 13 minutes in clear traffic. That's a routing estimate, so allow longer at busy times.
Is this Sonning Common?
No. Sonning Common is a separate village a few miles north, across the Thames in Oxfordshire. This page covers Sonning, the Thames-side village beside Sonning Bridge.
When can I get to my unit?
Any day from 6am to 10pm, by smart entry. The office is open Monday to Friday 8:30am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 4pm.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
No deposit is needed. We're not currently taking deposits from new customers.
How long do I have to stay?
The minimum stay is two weeks. After that you stay as long as you need and give 14 days' notice when you're ready to leave.
Do I need insurance?
Everything you store needs cover: our contents protection, or your own policy if it covers goods in self storage. Send us proof within 14 days of moving in and we'll refund the contents protection charges.
What about heavy furniture for the first floor?
There is no step at the entrance and trolleys are available. For anything bulky, call 0118 957 1573 before you book and the team will talk through a ground-floor unit if that suits better.
