Getting here from Kidlington

Head to our Chipping Norton store

Hook Norton Road,
Chipping Norton, OX7 5TE

Leave Kidlington on the A4260 Banbury Road, cut across on the B4027 to the A44, and follow the A44 to Chipping Norton, finishing on the A361 Banbury Road.

It's about 14.8 miles by road, roughly 24 minutes in clear traffic. That's an estimate from map routing rather than a timed drive, so allow a little longer at busy times. Nearly 30 miles there and back is too far for a few boxes, or for anything you will fetch every week, but it is worth it when you fill a unit once and leave it.

Once you're there, smart entry lets you in any day from 6am to 10pm, so an early start or an after-work run both work. The Chipping Norton store page has the full details.

Why Kidlington people store with us

Kidlington sits about 5 miles north of Oxford, between the River Cherwell and the Oxford Canal. It grew from about 1,300 people in 1901 to 13,600 in 2021, and it is a contender for the title of largest village in England. Being this close to Oxford shapes why people store here.

Easy peasy. Nice people to deal with; all my (probably, very silly) questions were answered quickly and clearly, and the follow up to check that my move went smoothly was a nice finishing touch.

Excellent Service & product ! Very easy access with parking right outside the door. Plenty of trolleys, so no need for muscles ! It maybe a little more expensive than some others, BUT the cleanliness & ease of use perfect. The staff are VERY patient, explaining how each unit works. It is great to know the manned office hours & how to make contact if not. Plenty of accessible hours too. Ps.... they do like a biscuit or 2 in the office I hear !

I needed a storage unit for a few months, and Wigwam Self Storage was the perfect choice. I started by visiting the website, which was easy to navigate and helped me determine the right unit size. After submitting my details, I received a follow-up call during which all my questions were answered professionally. The units are clean and well maintained, and having a personal access code made it easy to visit at a time that suited me. The team here is genuinely lovely and professional. Thank you for looking after me — highly recommended!

I enquired about a space in Bath a few weeks ago but was uncertain if I'd need it. I was helped by a lovely young lady called Selina. She went out of her way to give me info and showed me around the facillity. I didnt end up taking the unit but I had to write this because such service is rare nowadays. My sister has a unit at Wigwam and also raves abut the service.

Wigwam has taken good care of the shipment of our household possessions on our return from abroad. The whole experience was excellent. TheWigwam staff saw the shipment into the storage unit for us and made it all as simple as is possible when moving home and countries at the same time. The storage building is well organised, clean, tidy, secure and access was available everyday for a significant number of hours. Most of all ,the staff were kind, concerned, helpful and friendly. as anyone using the storage facility will learn. Mary Welstead

Very good to receive a monthly e-mail regarding the invoice. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is thinking about storage.

I had an outstanding experience with Wigwam Storage. The staff were incredibly helpful and guided me through the entire process to access my unit with ease. The unit itself was very clean, and the whole process was seamless from start to finish. I also felt reassured by the strong security measures in place. Highly recommend for anyone needing reliable and friendly storage services.

Wigwam offer a superb variety of storage solutions with robust security and monitoring systems, giving you the confidence that your goods will be stored in very safe hands. Access is made very easy with personalised codes allowing you to come and go at your convenience. The team on the front desk are also all extremely friendly and helpful. We could not recommend Wigwam Storage more highly.

Well organised. Not pushy. They made some helpful suggestions when I realised I'd not booked enough space. They gave me all the options. Were fair with the costs. Transferred the service agreement and had the paperwork ready when I came back with the next load. What a nice bunch of people to deal

Everything ran smoothly, the unit was perfect for my requirements, the staff were incredibly helpful....and then when I left, my deposit still has not been returned 3 weeks later. There is no excuse for the return of deposits to take this long and I am advised it can take up to 4 weeks. That is why this not a 5 star review

Found all the staff at Wigwam helpful and efficient, time was taken to show us around a number of units to help decide what size we would need. The day we started to move things into the unit was straightforward. Unit was very clean. Would recommend

Let down by an online delivered van hire hours before we needed it (Nationwide) - had a ring round and discovered Wigwam also did van rental and they were closer to us. They were so helpful - quick, efficient and professional and did what they said. They saved our home move in the cold and snow. Couldn't have been happier with service - and patience even after we rang back and said - are you sure it will be there tomorrow when we arrive? . Would highly recommend.

Our 40ft international container 'off loaded' with no problems. Wigwam helped with a storage unit they knew would be the correct size! We had the unit for 6 months as we slowly moved things to our new home. I always felt safe, Wigwam is very clean and well lit. Most importantly EVERYONE at Wigwam were very professional, helpful, knowledgeable and understanding. They were even able to downsize my unit to save me money as I made progress. I would use them again for certain. My unit was upstairs and the huge easy to use goods lift made it super quick to access the units upstairs. I took out insurance which was flexible depending on my progress. The picture is of my smaller unit at the end once empty.

Very efficient and friendly service for great storage spaces at a competitive price. Guided through carefully at the start to make sure we got the right sized space for our needs and for our budget. Really supported through the "moving in" process & beyond. Would definitely recommend to friends and family needing storage but also extremely professional set up for small or independent business needs.

Kidlington storage: useful things to know

Is there a Wigwam store in Kidlington?

No. We serve Kidlington from Wigwam Chipping Norton on Hook Norton Road, about 14.8 miles away.

How long does the drive take?

Around 24 minutes in clear traffic. That's a routing estimate, so allow longer at busy times.

When can I get to my unit?

Any day from 6am to 10pm, using smart entry. The office is open Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm, and you can call us on 01608 656300.

Is there a lift?

Yes, to ground-floor units. The mezzanine is reached by stairs only, which is why it costs less for the same size.

Is it worth the drive from Kidlington?

For a big load you will leave for months, or a car or motorbike, yes. For everyday storage you will visit often, no.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

No. We're not currently taking deposits from new customers.

How long do I have to stay?

The minimum stay is two weeks. After that you stay as long as you need and give 14 days' notice when you're ready to leave.

Do I need insurance?

Everything you store needs cover: our contents protection, or your own policy if it covers goods in self storage. Send us proof within 14 days of moving in and we'll refund the contents protection charges.
