Yes, you can rent more than one unit with us, and they can be side by side if two adjoining units of the sizes you want are free at your site when you book. We can't promise adjoining units in advance, and the online quote has no step for asking, so call us on 0800 2545585 and ask. If one bigger unit would do instead, it usually costs less: on our September 2026 price lists, two 50 sq ft units cost more than one 100 sq ft unit at 11 of the 13 sites that list both sizes, and the median (middle value) of those differences is £28 every four weeks, before any introductory offer.
Already renting and out of room?
You have two routes.
- Add a second unit. If one is free next to yours, ask for it. A second unit can sit on its own agreement: clause 5 of our terms deals with customers who have "more than one agreement with Us". When you no longer need the extra unit, you can end that one and keep the first.
- Move to one bigger unit at the same site, if one is free, and ask how the move between units works. Our short answer on changing to a bigger or smaller unit covers that.
What a second unit costs
A second unit costs its own listed price. At Marlow, for example, a 50 sq ft unit is from £150 every four weeks on our September 2026 price list. On that list, the lowest listed 50 sq ft price runs from £82 (March) to £246 (Leatherhead) every four weeks, before any introductory offer, so check your own site in the online quote. Nothing is added at checkout: the total in your quote is what you pay, and our prices include VAT.
On top of the rent:
- A deposit. Clause 4 says "You must pay the Deposit on signing this Agreement", so a second agreement carries its own. It is two weeks' rent at the unit's standard weekly rate (so £75 on that £150 Marlow unit); the quote shows the exact deposit before you pay. How it is refunded is in do I have to pay a deposit.
- Contents cover: declare a value that covers both units (how much cover you need).
After the first four weeks, rent is charged every four weeks, which is 13 payments a year, not 12.
Two units or one bigger one?
Lowest listed prices per four weeks on our September 2026 price lists, before any introductory offer. One 50 sq ft unit costs half the first column. The lowest price for each size may be on a different floor, so this isn't always like for like:
| Site | Two 50 sq ft units | One 100 sq ft unit | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alton | £300 | £230 | £70 more |
| Bath | £272 | £260 | £12 more |
| Bromsgrove | £324 | £318 | £6 more |
| Burton-on-Trent | £200 | £186 | £14 more |
| Chipping Norton | £312 | £148 | £164 more |
| Dorking | £440 | £334 | £106 more |
| Leatherhead | £492 | £416 | £76 more |
| Lincoln | £204 | £164 | £40 more |
| March | £164 | £136 | £28 more |
| Marlow | £300 | £262 | £38 more |
| Reading | £232 | £242 | £10 less |
| Shipston-on-Stour | £228 | £228 | the same |
| Tewkesbury | £196 | £170 | £26 more |
Sizes are approximate (clause 26) and we don't publish each unit's length, width or height, so if a long item has to fit, ring us on 0800 2545585 with its measurements before you book.
The differences run from £10 less (Reading) to £164 more (Chipping Norton). The lowest listed 100 sq ft price runs from £136 (March) to £416 (Leatherhead) every four weeks, before any introductory offer. Chipping Norton's cheaper 100 sq ft units are on a mezzanine with no lift; on the ground floor, 100 sq ft is £180, still £132 less than two 50s. If your site isn't in the table, the online quote gives its prices. Unsure of size? See our room-by-room size guide.
One larger unit, divided
If you only need two lots of things kept apart, such as finished furniture and your tools, one larger unit may do the job for less. Leave a clear gap, or use freestanding shelving as a divider. Don't fix anything to the walls: clause 22(d) says you must not "paint or make alterations to or attach anything to the internal or external surfaces of the Unit".
How two units work under our terms
We allocate the units. Our terms give you a licence to store goods "in the Unit allocated to You by Us from time to time and only in that Unit" (clause 1(a)). So you can ask for adjoining units, but which unit you get is our call. Clause 25 also lets us relocate you "to another Unit not smaller than the current Unit", normally on 14 days' notice, so units that start side by side aren't guaranteed to stay that way.
Two agreements in your name share one account. Clause 5 says that where you have more than one agreement, "all will form one account", and we may apply a payment "against the oldest amount due from You to Us on any agreement in the account". So if one unit falls behind, a payment you make for the other can be put against the older debt, so keep both up to date.
Two people, one unit each
If two of you want a unit each, next to each other (two sisters dividing a parent's things, say), you can each book in your own name, on your own agreement, with your own deposit and cover. Our terms define "You" as "the customer named in this Agreement", so clause 5's one-account rule joins up agreements held by the same customer, not two different people.
If one of you isn't local, ask us on 0800 2545585 how to sign without visiting (and see whether a storage agreement is a lease or a licence). To get into each other's units, you can share access through smart entry. If the things belong to an estate, see what happens to a storage unit when the renter dies.
For businesses adding space
Businesses can store with us too (see business storage). Our size guide says that, for business use, you can "add an adjacent unit as things shift, subject to availability", and our e-commerce guide warns that at a busy site "an adjacent unit may already be taken", so ask before your peak.
Before you book: what to ask us
Phone us on 0800 2545585 and ask:
- whether two adjoining units of the sizes you want are free at your site, and whether we can put you in them;
- whether the two units go on one agreement or two;
- whether we'd move both together if we ever needed to relocate one;
- today's price for two units against one larger unit;
- if you already rent with us, whether your current price, any offer and your deposit carry over (give your unit number).
Book your space
If one larger unit will do, get a price online. For two units side by side, call us on 0800 2545585 and we'll check which adjoining units are free.
