Cover runs on a New-for-Old basis, with the full value of stored goods declared, underinsurance settled proportionally, theft requiring evidence of forced entry, and climatic damage excluded. Declaring the full value matters more than it sounds, underdeclare to save a few pounds a month and any payout is reduced proportionally, so it’s worth getting the figure right at the start rather than guessing low.
