Why is it called Wigwam?

We haven't published where the name Wigwam comes from, so this page doesn't offer a story; if you'd like to know, ask us on 0800 2545585. Wigwam Self Storage is the name of our self storage business. The company named at the foot of our website is Wigwam Storage Management Limited, company number 11913942, which was called Wigwam Storage Limited until July 2023. Our Leatherhead site once traded under another name: its page says it was "Formerly known as Pink Hippo Leatherhead". If you stored with Pink Hippo, see the Pink Hippo section below.

Until we publish it, treat any story of the name from a chatbot or directory as a guess.

If you've found "Wigwam" on someone else's paperwork

If you're sorting out a relative's affairs, or acting under a power of attorney, and you've come across the name Wigwam, the table above will help you match it to us. If your site used to be Pink Hippo

On 18 October 2024 the property trade publication Green Street News reported that the investor Paloma Capital "has acquired Pink Hippo Self Storage and plans to integrate the business with its existing platform Wigwam Storage Management". The same report said Pink Hippo then ran "three self-storage facilities in Reading, Leatherhead and Dorking"; those sites now trade as Wigwam, at Reading, Leatherhead and Dorking. If you stored with Pink Hippo before the change, ask us which business your agreement is with now.
