Overflow storage is extra space for stock, equipment or belongings that no longer fit in your main premises, used alongside them rather than instead of them. For a shop or online seller it usually means holding surplus stock nearby, especially before a busy season, so the shop floor or spare room isn't swamped.
At Wigwam
Overflow storage runs on our standard agreement, which suits stock that grows and shrinks:
- You can move to a bigger or smaller unit if one is free at your site. Call us on 0800 2545585 to arrange it.
- If you take a second unit for a peak, clause 5 says that where you have more than one agreement with us, "all will form one account". That applies to households as well as businesses. Notice to leave is normally 14 days.
- You or your staff can restock from 6am to 10pm, seven days a week. Anyone you send counts as your agent under clause 14.
The limits matter as much as the flexibility. Clause 22 says the unit is used "solely for the purpose of storage", and must not be used as an office or a business or mailing address. Clause 22(g) also means stock can't be left in corridors or other shared areas. For deliveries, plan for someone from your business to meet the van rather than counting on us to sign for it, and ask your site before you book what it can do.
Sizing overflow
Plan the unit like a stockroom: shelving along the walls, the fastest-moving lines at the front, and a clear aisle to the back. When deciding between one bigger unit and two smaller ones, compare prices at your site. At the middle of our September 2026 price lists, 50 sq ft is £143 per four weeks and 100 sq ft is £230, so one 100 sq ft unit costs less than two 50 sq ft units (£286). Two units can still make sense if the second one is only needed for a few weeks.
