Seasonal storage

Seasonal storage is keeping things you only use for part of the year in storage until their season comes round again: garden furniture and barbecues over winter, Christmas decorations for eleven months, ski and camping gear, or a business's seasonal stock. The point is to free up home or work space without getting rid of anything.

At Wigwam

Seasonal storage runs on our standard agreement, with no fixed term, a two-week minimum and notice normally 14 days when you leave. Access is 6am to 10pm, seven days a week, so a Saturday swap of summer kit for winter kit fits easily.

Two parts of our terms decide how seasonal kit has to be prepared:

  • Clause 18(c) rules out combustible or flammable substances, naming "gas, paint, petrol, oil" and compressed gases. Gas bottles for barbecues and patio heaters therefore stay at home, and petrol mowers, strimmers and generators, which hold fuel and oil, need a conversation with us before they come in.
  • Clause 18(a) rules out food or perishable goods unless securely packed so they don't attract vermin, which covers leftover Christmas food and hampers too.

Costing a season

Our price lists quote per four weeks. At the middle of our September 2026 lists, a 25 sq ft unit is £78 per four weeks, so a 26-week winter (six and a half four-week periods) comes to about £507 at that price. The real choice is between keeping the unit all year and ending it when the kit comes home. Keeping it costs about £1,014 a year at that price (13 four-week periods) but means one set of trips and space at home year-round. Ending it saves the off-season months but means giving notice (normally 14 days), finding room at home for the kit, and booking a unit again next season, subject to what's free then.
