Storage facility

A storage facility is the whole site where storage units are kept: the building, yard or compound, with its gates, doors, corridors, security systems and parking. You rent a unit; the operator runs the facility around it.

At Wigwam

Our terms define the Facility as "the building, warehouse, external storage containers or other land or premises operated by the Self Storage Business", at the address on your Cover Sheet. Our Bristol Hengrove site is listed as opening in October 2026.

When you arrive, you can park free while you unload in the customer car park attached to the facility. Some sites add loading help: Leatherhead's page lists free use of trolleys and loading equipment. Whether there is a lift, a ground-floor unit or a step-free route varies by site; see the questions linked below.

Our FAQs list:

  • CCTV monitored by professionals, secure perimeter fencing and monitored alarms;
  • access control on the external doors;
  • an individual alarm and lock on each unit;
  • access normally 6am to 10pm, seven days a week (check your site's page);
  • office hours of Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 2pm, closed Sunday, though times vary by location (Bath and Dorking differ, for example).

Whether a member of our team is on site when you visit also varies by site, so if you want help on moving day, ring your site first on 0800 2545585.

Facility or unit: why the difference matters

Your licence covers your unit, not the rest of the site. Clause 2(d) says we keep control and management of the Facility, and clause 22(g) asks you not to leave items or rubbish in shared areas, so corridors and loading areas have to stay clear. Clause 25 also lets us move you to another unit no smaller than yours, with 14 days' notice, or sooner if an incident means part of the site has to close.
