Student storage is short-term storage for a student's belongings between terms, over the summer, or while on a placement or year abroad. It usually means a small unit or locker near the university, so the boxes don't have to travel home and back.
At Wigwam
Student storage is ordinary self storage on our standard agreement, with a two-week minimum stay. On our September 2026 price lists, small spaces in university towns include:
| Site | Space | Per week | Per four weeks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bath | 10 sq ft locker | £11 | £44 |
| Lincoln | 10 sq ft, upper floor | £10.50 | £42 |
| Reading | 20 sq ft, first floor | £15 | £60 |
A 12-week summer is three four-week periods, so a Bath locker comes to £132 at the list price. Our student page advertises up to 50% off the first eight weeks; the offer and the sizes it covers vary by site, so check what your quote shows.
What to check before term ends
- Who signs. The person who signs the agreement is the customer and needs the identity and address documents we ask for at booking. A parent can hold the agreement and add the student as an authorised user; clause 14 lets the customer's agents use the unit.
- What can't go in. Clause 20 bans portable battery chargers and power banks outright, and limits items with built-in batteries, such as laptops, to ten per unit. Clause 18 rules out food unless it is securely packed against vermin.
- When you need it back. Access is 6am to 10pm, seven days a week. Plan to collect your things before term starts. Notice is normally 14 days, as set on the front page of your agreement, so to stop after 12 weeks, give notice by the end of week 10.
